The Tohatsu MFS8C is the strong step up: 8 hp from a 209 cc twin deliver noticeably more thrust than the small classes and get light boats planing reliably. The battery-free EFI starts safely and cold without a choke, runs economically and independently of altitude and temperature.
As a clean four-stroke it runs quiet and smooth, and forward-neutral-reverse shifting allows precise harbour manoeuvring. At around 38 kg it stays manageable, and the standard 12-litre tank expands to 25 L. Choose Short (S) for most inflatables, Long (L) for higher transoms; for console boats there is a version with electric start and remote control.
